Sometimes it’s funny to me that I still think hanging from my fingertips and trying to do stuff like this is fun…. I don’t know why, but I don’t think it matters, either. Having fun is enough for me!

  1. I think it’s maybe because climbing isn’t really fun at all. Climbing might be many things: exhilarating, absorbing, fascinating, satisfying, gratifying, amazing, challenging, enjoyable, fantastic and many more things besides. But fun? I don’t think it’s an apt word for a serious hard climbing experience. Fun to me is more like what happens at parties, or being silly, messing about, having a laugh etc. It’s related to the word ‘funny’. Climbing is far too serious to be ‘fun’.

    1. An interesting and valid perspective. However, I’d say that for me, climbing (even climbing something hard for me) is still fun — a source of enjoyment and pleasure. But to each, his or her own. Thank you for your comment and for sharing your experience.
